
Abdikhayr H. Soofe
African Outreach and New American Initiative Coordinator
Abdikhayr H. Soofe has been with the City of Columbus, Community Relations Commission as an African Outreach Coordinator and New American Initiative since May 2011. He has Bachelors Degree in Sociology and currently pursuing his Masters in Public Administration. Mr. Soofe has 10 years experience in public service. Previously worked for the United Nations in Kenya for two years, Abdikhayr resumed his public service work at Franklin County Courts as an interpreter in 2002 where after one year of service has joined the Office of Franklin County Clerk of Courts as Deputy Clerk in 2003 while continuing to provide interpretation and translations to the courts.
From July 2006 to April 2010 Abdikhayr worked for Franklin County Municipal Clerk of Courts as a deputy Clerk and Civil Division Training Liaison where he was a member clerk’s academy, helped established training methods for the civil division; and translated notices and promoted cross cultural diversity.
With his relationship with the legal community, Mr. Soofe has also served as linguistic and cultural consultant to a various agencies and organizations including the Supreme Court of Ohio, the Columbus Legal Aid Society, Community Refugees & Immigration Services, Columbus State Community College and other public and private institutions.
Prior to joining the City of Columbus, Mr. Soofe has also worked for Accessible Home Health Care of Columbus a locally owned health care agency as a Compliance Officer. His responsibilities included: Developing, implementing, and maintaining procedures and policies related with the agency’s practice and compliances with the laws of the state and federal authorities.
Abdikhayr received Nemours trainings, recognitions, and awards from various institutions in Columbus and central Ohio and has close relationship with our Columbus Somali Community.
